Split The Room
The hardest creative challenge in PartyRush. You write a dilemma. Your goal: split the room exactly in half. Then predict which side wins. The closer to 50/50 you get, the more you score.
What you're doing
One player per round is the "creator." They write a dilemma with two options โ Red and Blue. They also predict which side they think the majority will pick. Everyone else votes Red or Blue. The creator scores based on how close to a perfect 50/50 split they got, and whether their prediction was correct. Voters score by being in the minority โ rewarding contrarian thinking.
The creator job is genuinely hard. You have to know your group well enough to find the exact crack between two genuine values.
How to play
- Creator writes โ A Red option and a Blue option. Then predicts: will Red or Blue win the vote?
- Everyone else votes โ privately, Red or Blue. The creator doesn't vote on their own dilemma.
- Reveal โ The app shows the split as a percentage bar, calculates points, and announces who picked the minority side.
Scoring
- Perfect split: creator +5.
- One vote off perfect: creator +3.
- Two votes off perfect: creator +1.
- Three or more off perfect: creator +0.
- Prediction correct: creator gets +1 bonus.
- Every voter on the minority side: +1.
Maximum possible creator score per round: 6. Voters can score every round just by reading the room and going against the grain.
Strategy
If you're the creator
- Avoid dilemmas with an obvious right answer. "Would you rather win the lottery or get hit by a truck" doesn't split anyone.
- Two genuine goods, or two genuine bads, are the sweet spot. "Free flights for life or free meals for life" โ both real upsides, real tradeoffs.
- Use group knowledge. The introvert and the extrovert in your group will split on social dilemmas every time.
If you're voting
- Genuinely answer first, then check if you're in the minority. Don't game it โ the minority bonus is small enough that voting honestly is usually correct.
- Watch other players' faces. You can read the split before the reveal.
When to pick this
Split The Room is the most creative game in PartyRush. It's perfect for groups with a strong sense of humor and people who like writing. Worst at very small groups (3 players means the creator can't get more than a 2-1 split, so the 5-point reward becomes statistically impossible). Best at 5-8 players, where 50/50 is genuinely achievable.
