Number Imposter
Sister game to Word Imposter, but the answer is a number. Civilians see a question and a range. The imposter sees only the range. Pick a number that fits the conversation โ or fool the room.
What you're doing
Each round, the app picks a question like "How many drinks would it take to text your ex?" with a range (0-15, say). Every player sees the same range, but only the civilians see the question. The imposter just sees "pick a number 0-15 and blend in." Everyone submits a number privately. Then all numbers are revealed publicly and discussed. Players vote on who they think the imposter is.
The mechanic is identical to Word Imposter, but numeric bluffing has a different flavor. Civilians inadvertently give away the answer through clustering โ if everyone is between 3 and 7, the imposter who guessed 11 sticks out hard.
How to play
- Role reveal. Each player taps a flip card. Civilians see the question. Imposter sees "you don't know the question โ pick a number in range."
- Answer. Privately submit a number on your phone.
- Discussion + Vote. All numbers reveal publicly. Each player votes for who they think is the imposter.
- Scoring + next round. The imposter rotates each round.
Scoring
Same formula as Word Imposter:
- Civilians who voted for the imposter correctly: +2 each.
- Imposter scoring depends on what % of civilians missed them:
- 100% caught: imposter +0.
- 67-99% caught: imposter +1.
- 34-66% caught: imposter +3.
- 1-33% caught: imposter +5.
- 0% caught (clean escape): imposter +7.
Strategy
If you're a civilian
- Don't pick the most obvious number. If the question is "How many times do you cry per month" and the answer is 0, but you pick 0, you give the imposter cover.
- Pick a personal number. Specificity helps you defend yourself.
If you're the imposter
- Guess the middle of the range. Risk-averse but rarely wrong.
- If you can hear the question being discussed BEFORE you submit (in person), use it. Don't submit first.
- Defend your number with conviction. The civilians don't know if their cluster is right either.
When to pick this
Number Imposter is good for groups that liked Word Imposter and want variety. Sessions run ~15 minutes for 4 rounds. The Savage question pool drags personal dating habits into uncomfortable visibility โ pick with friends who can handle the answers being on the screen.
